Cumin seeds are the seeds ofCuminum cyminum, which belongs to the parsley family. It is pale green in colorand elliptical in shape with deep furrows.

Cuminseeds has a penetrating flavour and aroma. Cumin seeds are used commercially asa principal ingredient in curry powder and is extensively used in Mexicandishes and marinades for meats.
