DescriptionThis product is available as white or pale yellowish powder.
PharmacologyThe antibacterial spectrum of the drug is similar to that of kanamycin. It displays good antibacterial effect against Staphylacoccus aureas and bacteria of enteric bacillus family (Bacillus Coli). Bacteria will develop drug resistance against Neomycin, while the process of development is very slow and partial or complete cross drug resistance exists among streptomycin, kanamycin and gentamycin. When orally taken or locally administered, Neomycin is poorly absorbed and only 3% of the total amount orally taken is discharged through urine, while most of the drug taken is discharged unchanged with feces. And considerable amount of the drug will be absorbed through inflammation or ulcer of enteric mucous membrane. The drug will be absorbed rapidly after being injected and the process of metabolism is similar to that of kanamycin.
IndicationsFor domesticated fowls: diarrhea, watery feces, yellowish green feces, umbilicus inflammation, enteritis, pericarditis, oviductal inflammation, yolky peritonitis, hemorrhage and shedding of enteric mucous membrane, arthritis and dermatitis and other symptoms. It is also effective for enteritis caused by bacillus coli, bacillus salmonella, bacillus dysenteriae, bacillus pyocyaneus, streptococcus, staphylococcus and related complications.
This product is indicated for symptoms such as diarrhea, reduced consumption of water and food, general debility and so on. It is effective in the treatment of chicken disease of enteric bacillus, chicken white dysentery, chicken necrotic enteritis, fowl cholera, fowl paratyphoid fever, inflammation of reproductive system and many other diseases. It also presents good therapeutic effect for contagious duck chorionic inflammation, duck disease of bacillus coli and stubborn enteritis.
Dosage and administrationFor domesticated fowls (chicken and duck), therapeutic dosage mixed in the forage is 200 grams in 100 kilograms of forage for 3-5 days and the preventive dosage is half the therapeutic dosage.
1. Renal toxicity: It generally impairs the epithelial cells lining the proximal convoluted renal tubules and lead to albuminuria, urinary tube cast and bloody urine, and under severe conditions, kidney failure.
2. Aural toxicity: The usage of the product sometimes will lead to dysfunction of ear vestibule and the damage of cochlea nerves.
3. Neuromuscular blocking: Major clinical manifestations are the inhibition of myocardial activity and respiratory failure, which can be antagonized by injection of neostigmine and calcium reagent.
4. When orally taken, this drug may impair the microvilli on the intestine wall and hence affect the absorption of lipid, protein, iron and sugar by the intestine.
PrecautionsWhen orally taken, this drug will affect the absorption of Vitamin A, Vitaming B 12 and digitalis.
