Kewda is obtained from pandanus odoratissimus by hydro distillation. Pandanus odoratissimus belongs to the family of pandanaceae. It is a densely branched shrub, rarely eract. It is commonly found along the sea shore of India. It contains about 74% phenyl ethyl methyl ether, phenyl ethyl alcohol 60% and phenyl ethyl acitate 2.75 %. Traces of natural nerol, neryl acetate, cytronellyl acetate, farnesol and nerolido1.
