PTK has been engaged in the manufacture of various sizes of sleeves for Aluminum Die Casting Machines for various industries. Its unique feature is the expertise in manufacturing shorter version of sleeves due to the following factors:
Like other manufactures, PTK is not making sleeves from steel routed through normal melting & hotworking processes. PTK's raw material for the subject item is manufactured from its in house induction melting & Electro Slag Refining (ESR) Process. Scrap of hot die steels containing very low sulphur & Phosphorous are carefully selected for melting in the Induction Furnaces for making ingots. The ingots containing very low sulphur & Phosphorous are subsequently routed through Electro Slag Refining Process to produce very fine grained hot die steel having practically nil content of Phosphorous & Sulphur as the starting raw material of sleeves. Sizes of ESR ingots are such that the shorter sleeves are directly made from them without size alteration in hot working. Due to absence of hot working, presence of extremely fine grained steel, enable sleeves to resist erosion for considerably longer period against hot molten aluminium flow during casting. Presence of very fine grained steel also makes the sleeves resistant to termperability. Hence these sleeves can be hardened & tempered at a comparatively higher temperature than those adopted by PTK's competitors. As a result of the same, PTK's sleeves are more resistant to thermal shock & cracking in application
Tube Mill Rolls - made out of ESR Grade (D-2) MV grade only. In this particular type of grade the density and grain size of this material is, same from centre to periphery, as compared to forged materials wherein the profile area of the roll is having very poor grain structure / columnar grain structure. Due to these particular characteristics rolls made out of ESR Grade steel do not show any failure / spallage.SLITTING LINE TOOLINGS:- For all applications - HR & CR Slitting
HR SLITTING CUTTERS - made out of D-2 (MV) grade and HDS (modified). ESR - Forged grade Raw-materials - depending upon coil specifications, whether MS or High Tensile material and Coil thickness . Upto 5mm Thick D2 (MV) grade for beyond 5mm HDS (M) , ESR forged Blanks are used. CR SLITTING CUTTERS - made only out of D2 (MV) grade steel. The Knives in any thickness with 2 micron (+) or (-) accuracy and mirror finish give you a very clean cutting edge to make your Line give the best results.
WORK ROLL & IDLER ROLL
Work Rolls - are made from AISI D2 (MV Grade), hardened at very high temperatures and then tempered at very high temperature. Due to this on one hand while the hardness of the Rolls after 3 tempering is 63-64 RC, at the same time there is no formation of soft spots on the Rolls, due to which the Tool does not chip nor crack. On top of it this Rolls give added life atleast up by 30-40%. DOWN time and scrap generation is zero due to zero Roll-failure.
IMR & DRIVE & IDLER ROLLS - Rolls are made out of best quality Hot Die Steels made thru ESR route & Forged unlike other who make IMR from Rolled material. Since the microstructure of Forged Rolls is any day better than that of Rolled products there is no spallage. Secondly the Rolls are hardened in such a way that grain coarsening does not take place, due to which Rolls are in excellent performing mode.
